Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has confirmed that talks have taken place with Liverpool about terminating Ben Woodburn’s loan move.
The 19-year-old has only managed 10 minutes of first-team football with The Blades since September after failing to make an impact and Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has been reviewing the situation.
Woodburn returned to Merseyside to get 90 minutes under his belt for the Under-23s against Everton on Sunday, which is the second time he’s come back home to work on his match fitness. Under-23s Boss Neil Critchley praised him for his attitude and performance in that game and described him as “a down-to-earth, humble boy”.

Discussing this situation and what might happen next, United boss Wilder said: “It’s been talked about (loan termination).
“The loan hasn’t gone as well as Ben and us would have liked, for various reasons – like the form of Mark Duffy, who’s probably playing the best football of his career, and the team as a whole.”
Woodburn will almost certainly return to Liverpool in January with the Reds set to examine fresh loan approaches for him.
