
Liverpool are willing to offer Leeds United £3million for defender Charlie Taylor but will not meet the Elland Road’s mooted valuation of £7million, claim well placed sources.
Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp was interested in the 22-year-old left-back earlier in the summer but as previously written by KOPTALK®, we believe the manager was looking at bringing in a more experienced player ahead of him with Taylor considered as an additional signing to provide cover, although much of that also sounded dependent on whether or not Alberto Moreno remained at the club.
Klopp remains in the market for a left-sided defender and having exhausted all possibilities, it would appear that the manager is willing to take a punt on Taylor but for less than half of what his club apparently want for him, although chairman Massimo Cellino insists he will not be allowed to leave this month regardless.
Reports in the British media yesterday claimed that Liverpool were again considering Taylor but there is still no sign of any formal offer.
Taylor, who is within the last year of his contract, has refused to sign a new deal and has seen a transfer request this summer turned down. His valuation will drop in January and if he doesn’t move then, he will be free to leave Elland Road at the end of the summer. If he was to then move to a Premier League club, Leeds would be entitled to compensation so they could dig in and try their luck with a tribunal.
