Liverpool FC Transfer News: Alisson Becker – LATEST

Alisson Becker

Roma want to tie down Alisson Becker to a new contract that will include a €90million release clause in the hope of blocking Liverpool’s attempts to sign him.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper is currently under consideration by Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp who is in the market for a ‘keeper with Simon Mignolet currently looking for a new club after Loris Karius was appointed the club’s No.1.

If Karius can prove himself between now and the summer, Klopp may instead invest in other areas of his squad first before trying to splash as much cash on someone like Alisson who is currently valued at around £40million. However, at the present time, we still believe that Liverpool are investigating the possibility of making something happen with Alisson but it could prove difficult.

It’s worth noting that Alisson appears willing to sign a new deal with the Serie A outfit with suggestions that he could extend his stay if they treble his salary from €1.5m (£1.35m) to €5m (£4.45m). A firm offer from a top European side though will almost certainly turn his head.

Stoke City’s Jack Butland and Atlético Madrid’s Jan Oblak have also been mooted as possible options for Klopp but we have also suggested that you keep an eye on reports surrounding the future of Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas. He was heavily linked with us a couple of years ago and there’s been chatter that Klopp tried to bring him to Anfield last year. Navas could be on the move in the summer with Real Madrid looking for a new ‘keeper. Alisson is said to be their No.1 target.

There was interest in Mignolet during the January transfer window but he is reluctant to just walk away from the wages he collects at Anfield. He is no rush to leave so any interested suitors will probably have to offer him a lucrative deal if they want to secure his signature in the summer.
