Of course it is a cheap one. BR isnt going to be allowed to spend money when he has to prove himself again. No point letting him ruin the club for 3 years with more dud signings in the next 6 weeks if he is only going to be around for another 6 months.

Owners are playing the long game here I think with players so the manager has to start showing his worth and put a side out there who will at least put the effort in.

I am prepared t give him a chance he has done it in the premiership unlike these cheap Carlos kickaballs FSG have been signing the last few years. But as others have said if he is our only purchase of striker (quite possible with FSG) then we really are in big trouble and we need to spend in other areas too so when sturrage has his next injury and mario is being a Pratt danny ings could be leading the line for us. But you never know he might surprise us

I wonder if the transfers now start to dry up until we get rid of the failings?

I don't really like the Ings transfer (nothing whatsoever to do with the lad) he wants to play for us turned others down and all that-great it's just wasn't the Origi signing meant to be all about the potential bit that FSG wet themselves over?

Yet again if you combine the two that's £16 million or there abouts.

The stubbornness with this BS is at this stage incredible.

Because any signing now that don't cost £20+ million they use to blame FSG for lacking ambition or Rodgers for failing to attract big names. Pathetic really. And even when they do splash the cash no one gives the players time to settle and they say we overpaid and slate the transfer committee. Can't win

It is not about the money spent on a said player - it is about the quality of the player, the need and where that player will fit into the system. The team is screaming the need for a commanding CM, DM, RB and GK plus a striker in that particular order. Mostly because with BR in charge the probability of a striker playing is less than likely. We lost Gerrard although he was declining and Allen is not the answer nor is Lucas. Manquilo has not had a look in, Flanagan is out injured long term, Johnson is off thanks be to Jezu and Jones left as well. The striker reserves are there for all to see and no one else is coming. It's Ings, Origi and Sturridge plus whoever of the rest we canot sell.

How many players have turned down other clubs last season to play for LFC, but never really got the chance. Only Can of the bunch have been given a chance and maybe not by choice.

Yes how long did we wait for Can to start? No amount of players signed will change anything if the tendencies around team selections, playing players out of position, tinkering and stubborn behavior etc don't change.

Milner is our CM
Can is being moved into DM
A RB is a priority
GK to challenge Migs, yes...

The fact you don't think a ST is our joint-biggest priority is bananas.

We currently have 6 strikers in the squad, only when 3 of them gets sold will we actually need another one. I do think we need a proper quality striker and have Apas, Borini, Lambert and Balotelli sold asap but I doubt that will happen. the managers tendency to not play strikers when he had 3 fit ones to choose from serves my point.

Unless you are BR the Can will be moved line is reaching sorry Can has been played as CB all season long why will he change now? What is commanding about Milner?

I've got issues with both signings of Milner and Ings but I'm not blaming Brendan nor FSG, especially with the personnel changes in the last few days.
Last season I was very against the signings of Lovren and Balotelli. Markovic I was a bit meh about (I really wanted Shaqiri) and the same for Moreno (I hadn't seen much of him but really wanted Bertrand) but when it came to Lallana and Can, I was a huge fan of both of those signings.

Now here's my issue. Milner is good enough for Liverpool and would suit our style, of that I have no doubts. The problem is that coming from City he would have exorbitant wages. Now you can say that class players should have wages to respect that but look at the best player in our squad, Phillipe Coutinho. He just signed a new 5 year deal on I think it was 70k a week, right? Bringing in players that (I believe) are not as good as he is on more than his wages, let alone double, would make him feel a bit used, like we're not respecting him.
Next, Milner would expect a first team place and it's been widely reported that he's got promises of playing in central midfield.
For me, in central midfield, I'd like to see someone that sits back and dictates play (a Defensive mid if you will) whilst breaking up opposition play before our defensive line. Milner doesn't fit this role.
I'd like to see someone that creates chances with 1/2s and little through balls in behind. That has quick feet and dribbles past players in the midfield. Milner doesn't fit this role.
I'd like to see someone that has a good eye for one touch passing, has a fantastic engine and works extremely hard for the club. They move from box to box, score some cracking goals but most importantly they WORK for the team. Yes, Milner fits this role but so does Jordan Henderson and personally, I would prefer to see Henderson starting over Milner. I don't think those two should both play in a 3 man midfield but such are Milner's wages that it's really to be expected... Especially with the likelyhood of Jordan getting the armband.

Onto Ings. We will now have Sturridge, who is limited in experience in CL football and has a lot of troubles with injuries despite being a top class striker.
We can't rely on Sturridge, understandably so people are crying out for Vietto?
Luciano Vietto is a 21 year old kid with one season in top level football. In 69 games for Racing he scored 18 goals and in 32 for Villareal (this season) he scored 12.

Yes, he's a fantastic young striker and could well become a world beater but bringing him in now, with just recently bringing in Ings would mean we have one striker who's seldom fit and then 3 under the age of 22.
In 100 league games these three young strikers combined have scored just 31 goals. Which is just under 1 in 3.
Now, do we have the patience in case these three young strikers don't hit the ground running and score 20 a season?

6 mil on Ings when we should be targeting someone top class that we know will deliver just seems wasteful to me.

Manquillo didn't get a look in? He played regularly for the first third of the season and proved he wasn't up to the demands of premier league football - certainly not yet.

And to be honest it is cheaper to eliminate your weaknesses (not putting inexperienced players like Manquillo in the team) than to improve your strengths (bring in big name players).
