ireland are weaker nation in soccer. we have a small population. in some parts of the country, rugby is dominant same with gaelic football and "girly" hurling as captainsouness likes to put it (though i suspect the poster has never swung a hurl in anger)

having said that it's nice to be so sh1t at our fourth choice sport and that we still competed with england tonight. but we're not really a soccer nation in the same vein as the world giants like brazil, argentina, spain, germany and italy. like england we trail behind that level of power.

England have never been one of the true giants of world football not with only one ever World Cup win so totaly agree with that, thought Ireland did really well and was quite shocked they managed to score a goal in open play, normaly there fans celebrate a corner. I think it would only be fair if England had a return game with Ireland at there sport now like hockey, curling or the only other thing there quite famous for Guiness drinking, would be up for a bit of that myself like. Anyway well done Ireland for getting a well deserved point at Wembley, the Irish will be able to live off that for nearly as long as Ray Houghtons goal back in Stuttgart 88.

getting corners is actually our fifth choice sport so we've done well tonight.

you would be more than welcome to ireland. i recommend that you go to kilkenny and ask where you can see some girly hurling
