We should ban good luck threads. Might have known... started by Souness... just like all our woes! Souness, arguably the greatest ever player to wear our shirt, managerial woes we don't need to look any further than King Ken...

Ireland has never been regarded as a footballing nation and there national team is as strong as a Jamaican bobsleigh team or an African ice Hockey team, Ireland is more famed for Gaelic football or girly hockey Hurling than football am afraid, just that people find it hard to take the Irish football national team serious. ireland are weaker nation in soccer. we have a small population. in some parts of the country, rugby is dominant same with gaelic football and "girly" hurling as captainsouness likes to put it (though i suspect the poster has never swung a hurl in anger) having said that it's nice to be so sh1t at our fourth choice sport and that we still competed with england tonight. but we're not really a soccer nation in the same vein as the world giants like brazil, argentina, spain, germany and italy. like england we trail behind that level of power.

England have never been one of the true giants of world football not with only one ever World Cup win so totaly agree with that, thought Ireland did really well and was quite shocked they managed to score a goal in open play, normaly there fans celebrate a corner. I think it would only be fair if England had a return game with Ireland at there sport now like hockey, curling or the only other thing there quite famous for Guiness drinking, would be up for a bit of that myself like. Anyway well done Ireland for getting a well deserved point at Wembley, the Irish will be able to live off that for nearly as long as Ray Houghtons goal back in Stuttgart 88.

Looking forward tonight to hopefuly seeing Daniel Sturridge make his first start for his country and with a bit of luck score a few against arguably one of the worst footballing nations around, think if he does well it will give him confidence to help with his Liverpool career, I know some people will say its easy to score against non footballing countries like Ireland, Jamaica and San Marino but International football is still a bit different than domestic and European games.
Luis Garcia, He drinks sangria He came from Barca, to bring us Joy He's five foot seven, he's football heaven please don't take my Luis away.
