Liverpool will have to compete with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City if they table an offer for Atalanta’s 19-year-old defensive midfielder Frank Kessié, claim reports today.
Some of Europe’s biggest clubs are tracking the player’s impressive start to his Serie A career and that could prove a problem for the Reds.
The 19-year-old has scored six goals in 12 appearances for Atalanta this season and his performances are generating interest and not just amongst Premier League clubs.
Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez watched Kessié score a penalty during Atalanta’s 2-1 victory over Roma on Sunday while Italian giants Juventus are believed to have formally registered their interest.

Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp has been tracking Kessié for months. You may recall KopTalk touching on our interest back in September. That interest remains with the player still under observation by Liverpool scouts.
Earlier this season the player spoke of his admiration for Manchester United but their initial interest appears to have cooled recently.
Back in September, Kessié said: “I like the Premier League. I’d like to play for Manchester United. I don’t know if [Jose] Mourinho will be there, but Manchester United has always been my favourite team.”
There’s no sign of any formal or informal approach from Anfield at this time but sources close to the club have suggested that Kessié may become the subject of a recruitment attempt in 2017.
