Rumours that claim Jürgen Klopp’s assistant Željko Buvač has quit Anfield have been dismissed – but he will not be involved with the Reds for the rest of the season and he will miss Wednesday’s crunch Champions League encounter away to AS Roma.
Club officials claim that the 56-year-old hasn’t stood down but is taking a break due to “personal reasons” and as a result they will not go into further details.

Having worked together for 17-years, a Buvač ‘bust-up’ would be a huge blow to the ongoing progress that is being made at Anfield but such claims are being played down despite reports to the contrary. Supporters will recall how the Pako Ayestarán-Rafa Benitez divorce had a huge impact on matters at the club and a parting of ways between Buvač and Klopp wouldn’t be ideal.
A popular figure amongst the players, Buvač’s absence comes as a critical time during preparations for Wednesday’s match. His exit, albeit temporary if you believe the club’s stance, is a huge blow.
