Steven Gerrard believes Daniel Sturridge may contemplate leaving Anfield in the summer.
Despite being handed a rare start against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup last night, Sturridge failed to impress and was hauled off during the second half. Having only started just five Premier League matches so far this season, there have been suggestions that he could be sold this month, although that looks highly unlikely.
Gerrard says he can’t see the 27-year-old hanging around at the club if he’s going to spend most of his time sat on the bench but he is urging his former team-mate not to make a hasty decision.
The former Liverpool skipper said: “I know Daniel won’t want to be third choice and I know he won’t want to be a bit-part player, so I’m sure he’s going to keep an eye on what happens between now and the end of the season and then he’ll have to make maybe a big decision. But if you’re Jurgen Klopp you want to keep him because on his day he’s world class.

“Only he knows whether he’s happy, whether he’s frustrated or whether he wants to go somewhere else and challenge himself. But Liverpool aren’t going to let him go for cheap. Liverpool need him. He scores goals when he plays, his minutes-to-goals ratio is incredible.
“I’m sure if someone came along with a huge, huge offer and Daniel wanted it there could be a solution there, but as it stands right now Liverpool need Daniel Sturridge and I can’t see him going anywhere short term.
“He’s capable of world-class moments and performances and I think Liverpool are on the verge of something really big under this manager. Maybe he is frustrated from week to week but there’s a great chance he could get silverware with Liverpool in the near future. If I were him I’d be patient. I think

Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed that the FA Cup 4th round tie at home to Wolves will kick-off at 12.30pm on Saturday 28th January.
