Steven Gerrard has opted to accept a coaching role at the Liverpool Academy.
The Liverpool legend has agreed that Jürgen Klopp’s advice to take a low-key coaching position after hanging up his boots instead of diving straight into management is the way forward.

MK Dons were willing to give Gerrard his first managerial position but he respectfully declined that opportunity despite holding positive talks with the League One outfit. He also rejected the opportunity to play on at a number of clubs including Italian giants AC Milan.
Gerrard’s appointment is expected to be announced in the New Year which is when Liverpool’s Under-23 coach Michael Beale is due to link up with Brazilian side Sao Paulo to become assistant manager to Rogerio Ceni, although the Reds may want that unrelated switch to happen a little sooner.
