Ryan Babel heading to Deportivo la Coruña

Ryan Babel, the former Liverpool winger, has agreed a free transfer to Deportivo la Coruña.

The 29-year-old recently terminated his contract with Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates with his agent having been quoted as saying “certain promises were not fulfilled”.

Earlier in the year it was reported that the player had some ‘disciplinary issues with the club’s hierarchy regarding his use of social media’ while more recently it was suggested that Babel was now seen as a reserve player.

“Babel is very much part of the club. He doesn’t play with the main team as there is a four-player foreign quota rule,” said a club official at Al Ain when rumours started to speculate that a parting of ways was imminent.

Babel, who has previously confirmed via his Twitter account that he watches the Big Man’s YouTube channel KopTalk.TV, is undergoing a medical in Spain this morning after agreeing personal terms.

Babel has seen his career stall after failing to fulfil his potential at Anfield following a promising start to his career at Ajax. He left Liverpool for Hoffenheim in 2011 but they released him early from his contract. He had a short spell back at Ajax before struggling to make an impact at Turkish outfit Kasımpaşa. He then ended up in the UAE but again it didn’t really work out for him there either. He will now try to resurrect his career in La Liga.

The player, who constantly tweets about Liverpool, recently tweeted that he was “honoured” to be featured within the club’s new main stand.
