Reports originating from Spain claim that Real Madrid will not allow Fábio Coentrão to make a loan move to Liverpool.
It is claimed that an informal enquiry has been made from Anfield with regards the 28-year-old’s availability with Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp wanting to strengthen his options on the left side of defence.
However, Real boss Zinedine Zidane is said to be unwilling to allow the defender to leave which could suggest that he’s given up on the idea of signing Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez, a player that has also been mooted as a possible target for the Reds. Zidane has been in the market for left-back to provide cover for Marcelo but the most recent reports in Spain suggest he’s going to stick with what he has.
Coentrão spent last season on loan at Monaco and is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and isn’t expected back until October.
Liverpool have been linked with Leeds United left-back Charlie Taylor (22) but we were informed that when Klopp took a look at him earlier in the window, he was seen as an understudy, someone to provide cover to a more experienced player like Jonas Hector for example, who should still not be ruled out despite signing a new contract with FC Köln.
It would appear that Klopp is still weighing-up his options for the left-back spot so be prepared for some possible late transfer activity.
