Rafa Benitez on managing Liverpool again

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has been talking about whether or not he would consider another stab at the Anfield job in the future.

In an interview with Spanish publication MARCA, the Newcastle manager was asked if he would be interested in managing Spain one day and if would ever consider a return to Merseyside with Liverpool.

“I always say the same with respect that at the moment I don’t consider it,” said Benitez when asked about managing Spain.

“I am happy here [at Newcastle] and I have years remaining on my contract. It depends on how my career evolves, we will go on one way or the other.

“If we do it here very well, then we can finish the work in these parts and if not, obviously, the Spain national side can be a footnote. You have to leave it there and see what happens in a few years.

“The same in relation to Liverpool. It depends. Maybe I’m still here [at Newcastle] and I don’t move again.”

Rafa’s Newcastle are currently 7th in the Premier League table, 2 places above Liverpool but with only a point between both clubs.

Recent reports have suggested that Rafa could be handed as much as £500million to invest in his Newcastle squad if Amanda Staveley proceeds with a takeover of the club. Negotiations are ongoing.
