Philippe Coutinho – LATEST

Philippe Coutinho

The latest news from Spain suggests that Barcelona are reportedly looking for offers in the region of €120million (£107.7m) for former Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho.

It is widely accepted that the 27-year-old Brazilian is desperate to return to Anfield following several weeks of speculation which suggested that Jürgen Klopp may make a cheeky offer towads the end of the transfer window.

Liverpool received £106million up front from Barcelona in a £142million deal, the rest of which was made up from performance and success related achievements, most of which, if not all, appear to have been achieved. Recent claims suggested that the Reds were owed around £20million but more reliable sources have sinced dismissed that suggestion and told us that less than £5million is now remaining.

It is understood that Klopp would, of course, welcome Coutinho back with open arms, but says it can’t happen because of the numbers involved.

Speaking earlier this week he commented: “In general, Phil Coutinho helps each team in the world, still — 100%.

“I like Phil, I think he’s a fantastic footballer and all that stuff, but it would be a big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big-money signing and it’s not our year for that.”

There have been suggestions that Liverpool would be interested in re-signing Coutinho on a season-long loan but such a move would be seen as embarrassing for Barcelona who are yet to receive a single suitable offer for the Brazilian.

Manchester United have been linked with a possible move but the player’s agent has stated that his client wouldn’t make the move to Old Trafford out of respect for Liverpool.
