Napoli chief bottles it following Champions League draw

Aurelio De Laurentiis

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is demanding answers from UEFA as to how they were drawn to face Liverpool in the Champions League.

The Reds were placed in Group C along with the Serie A outfit, French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Serbian title winners Red Star Belgrade. Liverpool, who battered Napoli 5-0 in a pre-season friendly in Dublin this summer, were seeded in Pot 3 for the draw, with Napoli in Pot 2 and PSG in Pot 1 and De Laurentiis has voiced his dissatisfaction.

“We are bitter, I will ask for an explanation from UEFA,” said De Laurentiis.

“Liverpool, Champions League finalists, are put in pot 3? It is a disastrous anomaly.”

Liverpool will travel to Italy to face Napoli on Wednesday 3rd October. The return tie at Anfield will be played on Tuesday 11th December.
