Liverpool FC Transfer News: Naby Keïta – LATEST

Naby Keïta will cost Liverpool £70million if they insist on pursuing their interest in the 22-year-old midfielder, if his club get their way.

RB Leipzig are desperate to hold on to the player and have slapped the inflated price tag on him in the hope of scaring off Liverpool.

Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp has been tracking Keïta for months and is willing to pay a substantial fee to land him but a £70m valuation is likely to see our interest cool until it is lowered. Klopp would willingly hand over £50m but he is unlikely to go much higher until he knows how much Virgil van Dijk will eventually cost.

We’re hearing that next year a €57m (£50m) release clause will kick in and with the player having so far refused to sign a new contract, Liverpool could look at exploiting that if Leipzig remain defiant.

Keïta is said to be interested in a move to Anfield so we think this one will rumble on for a few more weeks before Liverpool consider throwing the towel in.
