Liverpool U21s beat Morecambe 4-0 in a friendly at the Academy on Tuesday afternoon.

Goals from Daniel Trickett-Smith, Sam Hart, Harry Wilson and Adam Phillips secured the victory for Michael Beale’s side in a game that saw Jon Flanagan continue his recovery from injury.

Kevin Stewart (22) also came through the game as he makes a comeback from knee ligament damage that he sustained while on loan with Swindown Town.

Allan De Souza (pictured), signed from Internacional for £500,000 last summer, is still without a work permit but was able to be handed a start in today’s friendly. The permit situation should be resolved at the end of the season. Liverpool are currently trying to arrange a January loan move for him.

Jose Enrique, out of contract in the summer, also played in today’s game.

Speaking to the official LFC website, boss Beale said: “It was great to give Flanno 45 minutes after his half an hour against Fleetwood.

“He did very well and is looking stronger and he will now look to push on in the next few weeks and get some more minutes.

“Jose did very well and is getting stronger and he will benefit from the 90 minutes.

“Kevin Stewart was excellent for us in his comeback and that was his first outing since injury back in September.”

LIVERPOOL: Fulton, Flanagan (Whelan), Brewitt (Virtue), Polgar (O’Hanlon), Enrique, Chirivella (Phillips), Stewart, McLaughlin (Hart), Allan, Wilson, Trickett-Smith (Lennon).

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s Academy youngsters will play Cardiff City in the FA Youth Cup 4th round at St Helens Langtree Park on Thursday January 14 (KO 7pm).
