Liverpool table £66.5million transfer bid for Thomas Lemar

Reports today claim that Liverpool have tabled a formal transfer bid for Monaco ace Thomas Lemar.

It is believed that the Reds are offering the French outfit a deal worth around £66.5million for the 21-year-old midfielder who can play anywhere across the frontline although he is usually deployed on the left. He’s also comfortable being used as a wing-back.

Despite their impressive campaign, Monaco have sold several players this summer and desperately want to hold on to Lemar especially with Kylian Mbappé expected to be sold next.

Chelsea and Tottenham have all been heavily linked with the Frenchman while Arsenal have had 3 bids rejected already with their manager Arsene Wenger having conceded defeat last week with his attempts to sign him.

“It’s dead because Monaco has closed the door,” said Wenger. “They’ve already lost Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Bakayoko, so Monaco is at a stage where they have closed the door.”

Signed from Caen in 2015 for £3.5million, Lemar is under contract until 2020.
