Liverpool have made a transfer swoop for Augsburg left-back Philipp Max.
The 25-year-old German has been identified by Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp as suitable cover for Andy Robertson, following the departure of Alberto Moreno who joined Villarreal on a free transfer earlier this month.
Reports initially originating from Spain suggested that Liverpool were interested in Max and sources closer to home have now confirmed our interest.

It would appear that Liverpool have been given the green light to make an approach by the player’s agent and if Augsburg welcome the enquiry, negotiations will commence.
Max has a reported valuation of around £18million. If his agent has encouraged Liverpool to make an approach, that obviously means that the player is interested in a transfer to Anfield and that personal terms wouldn’t be a problem for Liverpool’s negotiators.
Barcelona have also been linked although they seem to be considering a number of alternative targets and not just Max.
