Liverpool Football Club have finally agreed a deal with Southampton for Virgil van Dijk.
The 26-year-old centre-back, who will make the switch on January 1st when the transfer window opens, becomes the world’s most expensive defender after a deal worth up to £75million was agreed.
Personal terms of around £180,000-a-week have been agreed and the player will wear the No.4 shirt once the paperwork is registered.
A statement issued by Liverpool Football Club reads: ‘Liverpool Football Club can confirm they have reached an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of Virgil van Dijk.

‘The Reds have agreed a deal with the south coast club, and the player himself, that will see the 26-year-old defender move to Anfield when the transfer window re-opens on January 1, 2018.
‘The Netherlands international will be assigned squad number four, upon his arrival at Liverpool.’
KopTalk sources had previously reported on our members’ website that Liverpool had hoped to confirm the signing during the first week of January. They also reported that the player’s valuation had increased by £5million during the last fortnight due to Manchester City’s fresh interest and that there had been concerns about whether or not Liverpool may walk as a result. However, Liverpool were not put off and they have agreed to pay the full asking price to ensure that Jürgen Klopp was delivered his man, instead of piss-balling around like they usually do.
We are led to believe that Van Dijk and his representatives played a huge part in ensuring that the transfer went ahead as early as possible during the January transfer window which is what Liverpool had hoped for.
Fantastic news and a real show of intent by Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG).
