Only yesterday we wrote: ‘We’d certainly feel a lot happier if the club can get him tied down to a new contract which was mooted towards the end of 2016 following an enquiry from PSG. Things have gone a little quiet on that front and with owners FSG having announced the return of Steven Gerrard during the current transfer window, the likelihood of some more ‘good news’ being dropped before the window closes seems unlikely.’
Well, we’re certainly happy to see that there have been some developments but we genuinely didn’t think that the club would drop some more ‘good news’ during the present window.
A new contract will see the player receive more lucrative terms but it should also ensure that the club receives a more lucrative fee for him in the future, should he be sold.
