Southampton are demanding up to £75million for Virgil van Dijk after reporting Liverpool to the Premier League for an alleged illegal approach.
The 25-year-old centre-back wants to make the switch from St Mary’s to Anfield but Southampton officials are trying to block his exit and have subsequently placed the ridiculous valuation on his head.

Although Van Dijk was not interested in signing for Manchester City, their £60million offer – £10m more than want Southampton were originally looking for – was a price that Southampton felt they could now demand. However, since throwing a strop, Southampton are now said to be looking for a minimum fee of £65million that could rise to £75million.
Liverpool are confident that the player’s determination to make the switch to Liverpool having now considered all of his options will enable a deal to proceed. Sadly, though, it may be dragged out for some time.
