Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is in talks with MK Dons over the vacant managerial position at the club. The 36-year-old is available after announcing that he will be leaving MLS side LA Galaxy in December. Gerrard has been linked with moves to Celtic and Newcastle while Liverpool have also discussed a possible coaching role. Karl Robinson quit as manager of MK Dons “by mutual consent” last month.

Loaned out Liverpool midfielder Allan says he hopes that he will be able to turn out for the Reds in the future but acknowledges that securing a work permit will continue to be difficult. The 19-year-old failed to secure a work permit to enable him to play in England and was subsequently loaned out to German outfit Hertha Berlin.

“My goal remains to play for Liverpool. We’ll see what happens if I don’t get the number of games need to qualify for a work permit. Without the Europa League, it’s even more difficult. But I feel good here at Hertha, and who knows whether I will continue here after the summer. If that happens, it would also be good.”
