Liverpool have beaten Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United to the signing of highly-rated Ajax teenager Ki-Jana Hoever.
The 16-year-old right-back, who can also play in the centre of defence, has opted to sign for Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool after deciding that Anfield would be the best place to ply his trade in the future.
Ajax are reportedly “devastated” that one of their star players has opted to leave them and to make matters worse for them, they will only receive a nominal compensation fee as he hadn’t yet signed a professional contract with them.

Hoever has been training with Liverpool’s Under-18s at the Academy but he can’t make his competitive debut for the Reds until he receives international clearance which is expected to be rubber-stamped over the next couple of weeks.
Although a right-back, the suggestion is that Liverpool will concentrate on schooling him as a centre-back, a position he is already comfortable in.
Hoever, who has represented the Netherlands Under-19s, played 13 times for Ajax, scoring twice, in the Under-17 Eredivisie last season.
He will initially join the Under-18s at Liverpool but he is expected to step-up to the Under-23s in no time.
