Liverpool agree terms with Loris Karius

Loris Karius

Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius ahead of a possible transfer to Anfield.

Reports originating from Germany claim that Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp has turned to the 22-year-old following failed attempts to land Marc-André ter Stegen and Timo Horn. Ter Stegen’s representatives were sounded out earlier this year but that deal looked expensive and difficult while Ian Ayre is believed to have approached FC Köln regarding Horn’s availability as recently as the last few days.

We know that Karius has been under consideration and although he may not be Klopp’s first choice, he’s definitely a big admirer of the former Manchester City youth player (2009 – 2011). It would appear that the Liverpool manager is wasting no time on other options.

It is claimed that Liverpool will need to pay just short of £8million for Karius despite the player having only recent signed a contract extension.

As soon as we see or hear anything credible we’ll update you accordingly but for now, there is of course no official word from Anfield.

We believe Liverpool officials have been busy negotiating the market the last week and we expect that to also be the case this week so it wouldn’t surprise us if you see more bold claims being made in the run up to the Europa league final. Activity later this week is quite possible.
