Juventus patiently waiting for Emre Can’s decision

Jürgen Klopp & Emre Can

We’re sure you’re probably sick of hearing about Emre Can and Juventus, we certainly are, but we have to keep you posted on the latest comments and developments (or lack of them), that are coming out in relation to this long-running saga.

The German midfielder is out of contract in the summer and has so far refused to sign a new deal with Liverpool who are refusing to insert a particular release clause in his contract meaning he will instead leave on a free at the end of the season if things don’t change.

Can insists he’s focused only on playing for Liverpool at the moment and has subsequently instructed his agent to suspend talks with clubs who are interested in signing him.

Juventus have commented numerous times that they’re just waiting for a decision and their managing director Beppe Marotta has reiterated this.

He said: “We are periodically pointed to as a club that buys players. We have a squad suited to three tournaments and it meets our needs.

“We’re ready to take any opportunities, I won’t deny we are concentrated on Emre Can and awaiting his response. That is our primary objective.

“If there is a negative response, we’ll move our attention on to other players.”

Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook (21) has been mooted as a potential replacement for Can who was hauled off against Watford at the weekend due to a muscle injury in his back.
