José Mourinho has taken a sly dig at Jürgen Klopp after leading his Manchester United side to the League Cup final.

Following Liverpool’s exit from the competition, Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp said the weather conditions had played a part in his side’s defeat to Southampton.

After crashing out, Klopp told reporters: “First half, it was difficult – the wind was really strange, it was difficult to handle.

“You saw one or two balls when the ball stopped in a moment when nobody knew about it. That was difficult for a football-playing side.”

United boss Mourinho couldn’t help but take a dig at his North West rival when speaking about United’s chances of winning the final after beating Hull City last night.

“I don’t think we are favourites against nobody,” said the United boss. “It doesn’t matter against who or where, we are never favourites.

“Normally the stadium is windy and it’s difficult.”
