Joe Gomez set to sign new 5-year contract with Liverpool

Joe Gomez and Liverpool Football Club are holding “advanced talks” with regards the player signing a new contract.

An agreement is believed to be imminent which will see the player tied down, in theory, until 2022.

The 19-year-old defender recently returned to action following a year out with serious knee and Achilles problems and has done enough to earn himself improved terms.

Gomez has attracted loan interest from a number of clubs during the current transfer window but Liverpool FC boss Jürgen Klopp put a block on those suggestions.

He was signed from Charlton in June 2015 for an initial fee of £3.5million. His current deal expires in 2020.
