Liverpool FC Injury News: Roberto Firmino – LATEST

Roberto Firmino could miss Liverpool’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday.

The Liverpool forward suffered an abrasion of the eye during a clash with Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen during Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Wembley on Saturday but the boss is hoping that the Brazilian could be involved.

Asked whether Firmino would be available, Klopp said: “He couldn’t play today, no chance, but we are hoping tomorrow. It is good news it will be close. It was a big relief for all of us.”

The official Liverpool FC website also quotes the boss as saying: “No idea [if he will be available] to be honest. He is much better.

“We all saw the picture and we were massively worried. But all these worries are away so he will be fine.

“If he will be fine for tomorrow, I don’t know in the moment.

“We are obviously in close contact with him and it improved already – but in this moment I can’t say if he will be available for tomorrow.”

Daniel Sturridge could be handled a rare start if Firmino is ruled out.

The boss added: “He will be ready. If Bobby can’t play – Dom [Solanke] and Divock [Origi] can’t – then we are short of options. They got little injuries in the under-23 game with Swansea.”
