Gerrard hoping to emulate Klopp’s style at Rangers

Steven Gerrard

Steven Gerrard is hoping that he take some of Jürgen Klopp’s attacking football to Rangers when he officially takes up his position as their manager in the summer.

The Liverpool legend is hoping that he start making life a little bit more difficult for rivals Celtic, who secured their seventh consecutive title against Rangers earlier this month, after paying close attention to the German boss and the way he organises his team.

Gerrard said: “When you look at the style of football that Jurgen Klopp plays, I think every fan in the world loves watching that.

“He’s been absolutely massive for the club. What he does is he speaks honestly and truthfully.

“When you see a manager speak, you don’t want someone to pretend or bat back any question. He answers every single question with honesty and truth and that’s what we are about.

“It’s one of his values that I hope to take.”

Many Liverpool supporters see Gerrard’s decision to accept the Rangers job as his first step to eventually becoming manager of the Reds one day. Naturally the Anfield faithful will be watching what he does north of the border with interest next season and Gerrard says he has had a lot of backing from the Reds he’s spoken to since being appointed.

“Every fan I have bumped into since the news broke are now officially Rangers fans too so that’s been a huge boost for me too,” said the former Liverpool skipper.

“I have had so many good luck wishes and messages and it has been really great for me.”
