FSG’s lack of ambition causing fans to cut back their support

FSG’s ownership of Liverpool Football Club is turning fans off. How do we know? Because the single reason that any of our members or subscribers cancel their membership to KopTalk or DKB.TV is that although they enjoy our content, they say they are completely depressed with the lack of ambition displayed by the club and the lack of commitment from the owners.

They want their beloved Liverpool FC to thrive and be successful yet appear realistic about what the club is currently capable of, which they feel isn’t much under the absent owners.

Basically they’ve had enough. They could of course be telling porkies but some of these people have been with us since the 1990s. Some of them are like family to us. We believe them. At times we have felt exactly the same.

Those who have opted to leave and those that haven’t yet reached the point of throwing the towel in are reporting to us that they will also not buy any more merchandise or products from the club. So if we’re receiving that feedback from the occasional fan here and there, it does make us wonder if the club are feeling this knock-on effect on a far greater scale than we obviously experience?

Our guess is that older fans are the ones probably not as tolerant where as younger fans don’t really know any different as FSG clearly do have some support out there.

 

There is a divide and some fans are clearly reducing their overall involvement with the club. They tell us they will always support the team but that it’s just become too depressing to be as actively involved as they once were. That’s quite sad when you think about, although we understand where they are coming from.

We don’t demand £100m+ signings nor do we demand that we must win every trophy out there year in, year out. All we want is to feel that our club has a chance and that the people at the very top care as much as we do.

It’s not much to ask. It’s the foundations that Liverpool Football Club were built on, is it not?

But at the same time, let’s not be too suicidal about it all. We’re not fighting relegation. We’re still in the running for silverware and we have a manager that we think will eventually see sense and start looking at different plans and options. If he overachieves maybe we’ll be smiling come the end of the season. Right?

We continually feel that we need to state that we’re not anti-FSG, it’s just that we have no faith in them at all.

They’re definitely not good for business so you won’t see any tears shed from us when they sell up and we think that’s going to happen a lot sooner than many expect.
