Emre Can’s on-and-off deal to Juventus is ‘very close’

Emre Can

Depending on what news outlets and sources you believe, Emre Can’s proposed transfer to Juventus has been on or off for most of the 2017-18 season. Those Twitter ITKs that were on potties or not even born when KopTalk was launched almost 2 decades ago, just don’t know what to do with themselves due to the various conflicting claims.

So what is happening?

Dunno. But Calcio Mercato journalist Fabrizio Romano seems to think it’s almost done … as it’s ‘very close’ again.

He writes: ‘It is said that Can’s entourage has sent an email to Juventus saying that they would come to Turin to complete the deal and the midfielder will soon be a Juventus player. The Italian media has already reported that Can secretly visited Vinovo some weeks ago but it is very close to being a done deal now.’

It is claimed that the Liverpool midfielder will ink a 5-year contract offered to him by Juventus worth £5million-a-year, which is about the same amount of money that he spends on hair gel products each season.

Out of contract at the end of the year, Can has never ruled out the possibility of signing a new deal with Liverpool but with the Big Cheese at Anfield so far having refused to give into a release clause, an exit remains on the horizon.

With the Reds having reached the Champions League final, Can indicated that he could return in time to be available for selection despite many not expecting him to turn out for us again due to his back injury. He underwent a scan on Monday but the results were inconclusive. He will have another scan to see if he can return to training next week.
