Danny Murphy believes Liverpool simply don’t have a good enough squad to compete for the Premier League title.
The former Liverpool midfielder rates Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp but says more investment is needed from owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) for him to make a significant impact at Anfield.

Murphy said: “I was at the Chelsea game at the weekend and they had Willian coming on, Matic coming on, John Terry on the bench, and I was thinking Conte can’t wait to get in the Champions League so he can start giving them a game. Liverpool have got a young kid on the bench and Origi, players not proven. They are playing a centre-midfielder at centre-half.
“The squad is not good enough, it’s as simple as that.
“Klopp is a good manager. For the start of the season, he got more out of those players than he should have.”
