Chelsea v Liverpool – TEAM NEWS

Emre Can could miss Liverpool’s game against Chelsea on Friday night.

The Reds travel to Stamford Bridge for their next Premier League fixture but the German international may be left out despite returning to full training following his ankle injury.

Dejan Lovren should make the squad after missing out against Leicester City after picking up a black eye during a collision at Melwood. We expect him to be recalled to the starting XI.

Loris Karius has trained for a week without any problems but Simon Mignolet is expected to continue in goal.

Providing an update on the status of his players, Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp said: “The players involved in the last game are until now all ready again plus Dejan. Not the others, for example Emre. Emre’s not injured anymore, that’s good, but he needs to train, that’s how it is.

“He had a difficult pre-season with coming in later than most of the other players [following Euro 2016]. Then he had a bit of an injury, it’s not the best moment until now. He’s still a wonderful player but we have to make him fit.

“That’s what we do with him, that’s what we do with Mama [Sakho].

“Loris [Karius] is training a week now so all good.”

Unbeaten Chelsea will be without their captain John Terry who strained ligaments in his foot against Swansea at the weekend. David Luiz is a possible replacement will be involved following his return to the Bridge.

Martin Atkinson has been selected to referee the match.
