Brazilian media claim Coutinho available for Brazil selection

Reports originating from Brazil claim that Philippe Coutinho is available for selection for his country despite not figuring for Liverpool due to a back injury.

‘Globo Esporte’ report that the want-away Liverpool midfielder appears to be in a condition that enables him to train and be available for selection for Brazil for their World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Colombia. They have also named him in a probable starting line-up to face Ecuador in the early hours of Friday morning (UK time) but that is obviously just them speculating.

They also write (translated): “Everyone is aware that the real reason for his absence at the English club is the possibility of a transfer to Barcelona.”

However, ‘UOL’ have a different opinion to Globo Esporte. They report that Coutinho could lose his place to Chelsea’s Willian as a result of him having no game time under his belt with Liverpool.

Liverpool are trying to hold on to Coutinho for another year and insist he will not be sold to Barcelona this summer for any price. We’re not convinced despite all the denials.
