Barcelona respond to Virgil van Dijk transfer claims

Barcelona have dismissed suggestions that they are looking at making a move for Liverpool target Virgil van Dijk.

It was claimed over the weekend that the Catalan outfit were going to try and hijack Liverpool’s attempts to recruit the Southampton centre-back and that they would basically blow the Reds out of the water with an offer that the player couldn’t turn down.

However, sources at Barcelona have told the Catalan media that they will not be making a move for Van Dijk anytime soon.

Liverpool are to push ahead with a new attempt to land him and at the current time they face no competition in doing so. This may of course change but the player has indicated that he wants his move to Anfield and he has given his word that he will not u-turn.
