Liverpool rejected Barcelona’s last offer which was worth £118million but only £82m of that was guaranteed and they also wanted to spread the payments over 4 years. The other £36m was add-ons which the Reds deemed unrealistic.
Barcelona informed Liverpool by email that they had until 7 pm on Sunday to accept the offer or it would be withdrawn, this despite Liverpool having already rejected it on Friday.
Coutinho, currently out with ‘a back injury’, has informed Liverpool he doesn’t want to play for the club again after having had an official transfer request rejected. But with a World Cup around the corner, Liverpool officials believe Coutinho will have no choice but to get his head down and put in another season.
Reds’ boss Jürgen Klopp believes the damage can be repaired and that the Anfield faithful will welcome the player back into the team if this saga finally passes.
