Barcelona and Chelsea step-up interest in duo

Barcelona are reportedly stepping up their interest in Liverpool target Naby Keïta, despite the player’s club having insisted all summer that he is not for sale.

Nou Camp officials watched Schalke’s 2-0 win over RB Leipzig on Saturday and it is claimed that the Catalan outfit have decided to try and tempt the midfielder’s club into doing business having so far failed to strike a deal with Liverpool for Philippe Coutinho.

Although Leipzig have refused to entertain Liverpool this summer, we believe that the Reds will make a fresh attempt to land the 22-year-old (and Virgil van Dijk) before the summer transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly stepping up their interest in Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The Stamford Bridge outfit have been monitoring his contract stand-off with the Gunners and are believed to have made him an offer.

There are suggestions that Oxlade-Chamberlain has the option of joining Liverpool but that he’s waiting to see if we qualify for the Champions League before making a decision about his future. Liverpool insiders deny that any official offer has been made as yet.

Arsenal hope that the 24-year-old will put pen to paper on a lucrative new contract within the next week.
