Another injury setback for Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge’s hopes of returning to action within a couple of weeks appear to have suffered a setback.

The 28-year-old striker, who is currently on loan at West Brom, sustained a hamstring injury just 3 minutes into The Baggie’s Premier League clash with Chelsea earlier this month. It was expected that he would be out of action for around 2 weeks but reports suggest that his latest comeback has been delayed and that he could now be out for a month.

With Liverpool saving on his wages and having received a loan fee of around £2million, it is believed that his loan move has been worth around £3.8million to the Reds. That, of course, is bad news for West Brom boss Alan Pardew though as Sturridge has played only 77 minutes of football for his side who are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and he hasn’t scored a single goal.

Sturridge was hoping to use the loan move to secure a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s World Cup.
