£148m Coutinho, Lemar bid confirmed, Sanches, Draxler & VVD latest

Philippe Coutino

Barcelona believe they will have to pay Liverpool as much as £148million to land Philippe Coutinho.

Despite Liverpool insisting that the Brazilian is not for sale, Barcelona continue to claim that they are negotiating with the Reds to try and broker a deal before the transfer window slams shut later this week.

Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez commented yesterday that talks were ongoing.

“Coutinho? We are continuing the negotiations,” claimed the Barca chief. “We do not want and we do not have the right to say what we are doing.

“We want to get to a favourable situation, but for this to happen it is necessary to have a lot of discretion on the part of the clubs and the player.”

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who previously said Barcelona would not table any bids for the player, insists that Liverpool are not locked in negotiations with Barcelona because they will not sell under any circumstances.

Coutinho, currently absent from the Liverpool team due to ‘a back injury’, has left England to report for international duty with Brazil. It is claimed that he has been accompanied by his two brothers, Leandro and Cristian, who have been by his side since Liverpool rejected his transfer request [ED: Jeez. Has his dog died?]. Coutinho’s father José Carlos is said to have remained on Merseyside to deal with things should Liverpool reach an agreement with Barcelona this week.

KOPTALK sources claim that Liverpool and Barcelona are talking. They believe Liverpool are trying to compromise and broker a deal that would allow Coutinho to make the switch next year. The player’s representatives are pushing for the deal to go ahead this week.

Quotes posted on our members’ website today state that Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has washed his hands of the situation and has given his blessing to the owners to make the call on the situation. Internet claims that suggest the manager would be furious with a sale have been dismissed as nonsense.

The official line remains that Coutinho is not for sale at any price. If he doesn’t make the move this week, we will assume an agreement is in place for a transfer next year because it sounds like the player is extremely unhappy and that could cause the club problems. We are still not ruling out an exit this week despite us being in the minority.

KOPTALK can confirm that today’s reports of Liverpool having tabled a formal offer for Thomas Lemar are true. We also believe we are trying to conclude a deal for Renato Sanches. The manager also has the option of adding Julian Draxler to his squad after his agent declared that his client is keen on the idea of a move to Anfield. Liverpool will make a final push for Virgil van Dijk before deadline day.

Additional updates are available on our members’ website. Updates to the free KopTalk site (this one) will be limited on deadline day with our members obviously having to receive priority. We think there’s going to be a lot of fake claims to deal with. Our advice would be to avoid the loony Twitter ITKs on Thursday and if possible, turn off the internet completely until the window slams shut!
