Trust me - in the long term this is better. Spend wisely, don't panic buy, build a solid foundation. Better than spending for sake of it, E.G selling stephen warnock, buying dossena for 7m.

I wouldn't vote for Marin coz we already have a similar Pacheco not playing
Young, Turan, Nuri, Coentao... Amen

No big signings in January?

Today there are several reports on Liverpool not going to bring in any new big names in the January transfer window. On the other hand the rumours of transfer war chests and players keep on coming like never before.

he's not saying how much we're going to spend or when we're going to spend it so that means that the press has got no clue at all if we will spend big or not in january. they're just making up stories.

what henry said is that we'll have to be spending in a smart way and we're probably going to bring in a couple of younger players which is a good thing.

Well he was not going to say "we are loaded start inflating your prices"

Thats true, I was a bit horrified when I read the headline. But it is true that liverpool has a massive squad and there are a lot of hangers on there, you will never win anything when half the squad is full of journeymen, need to get rid of them if roy hasnt got the brain or balls to put them on the bench maybe the directors will. Can't say it was what i wanted to hear re; tightening the belt but there is a culture of apathy there at the moment, and i dont think a weak manager like hodgson is enough to turn around that, the danger is that we will have a team of spiceboys again; with these directors they may be more influential in player purchase, a sign of liverpools decline was the transfers we have had (although the anti benetiz mob will say it is all rafas fault), the mentality isnt right in the squad it doesnt matter if someone cost 30million or 30 quid if there isnt team spirit and thats been lacking for 2 years

I've got no problem with what Mr Henry has said here surely it makes sense. I should think they are aghast at the amount of crap we've bought over the past few years. I have no doubt they will spend but it's going to be done wisely, no where has he said they won't be spending or not spending big. They are not saying anything stupid to make headlines yet so that's why Sky and the tabloids have jumped on it. They are going about things calmly and in the right way...no more "spades in the ground in 60 days" [oops] being spouted by LFC owners..gone back to way we used to do our business with no frills and long may it continue. I've got faith that these guys are taking us back to the very top, it will take time but I'm feeling good vibes.

well said josh. totally agree with you and if these claims about us having the 4th highest wage bill in the league is true then surely something has to be done about it if we aren't cutting it in the top four. there is still so much crap at the club and younger players who should be getting a chance have got their opportunities hampered by p!ss poor fringe players who don't deserve to be above them in the pecking order.

long term investments are what we need. defour, banega, turan, mata etc

and our highly rated youngsters - shelvey, pacheco, wilson, kelly need their fair share of top flight experience.

we need it more than ever, especially now gerrard and carra are getting on a bit

Realistic and the kind of player we need to add some steel up front. No more lightweights needed.
