no thanks, decent championship winger but no. no thanks, we would certainly be going backwards if we made a signing like that.

defour would be a good signing, captained standard since he was 19 and was playing international football for belgium. i always feel like him or marek hamsik could be a long term replacement for gerrard.

only thing is though he's a similar type of player to raul merieles. the box to box midfielder. i think we need a defensive midfielder or at least some body who would bring something different to the team like ever banega - someone who could start the attack and pick out those lovely passes like alonso used to do.

i agree with chris brunt ive never heard of him until today i have heard his name but nothing to talk about or worth remembering if this is the type of signing hodgson is considering. we should be targeting the best players around or best your talent who are ready to make the step up. like lb gibs? hes not getting a game at arsenal with clichy so why not test him and get 1 of england top young talents. or adam johnson mancini has admitted hes not his biggest fan? i know nesv arent gonna splash the money but if they can get a good deal for the best young talent and improve the squad im sure they would... i still cant believe johnson is classified as a bench warmer at man city...

yea i agree, kieran gibbs looks a good player, seem him in that england friendly a good few weeks ago. his last touch let him down a bit sometimes but he will be a good premiership left back in years to come. arsenal have had some quality players in that position over the years.

id love johnson, it amazes me how this kid flew under the radar for so many years. you have to be a good player to get a game in that man city side. only thing is would mancini sell him? and do they need their english players to fill the HG quota? and most of all would he come to liverpool. he would be a fantastic signing.

think the main reason chris brunts name has come about is because he played quite well against united yesterday and his free kick bagged them a bizzare goal. and also the media know we're in the hunt for new players in the transfer window so they are gonna milk it. but there are better players in that west brom side id take before him. CB jonas olsson, odemwingie or fortune. olsson is about the only one good enough to get in our team though

i think johnson would come. I think any winger would choose to play with Gerrard not many players around there who could feed wingers from 40 yards! plus who wants to play for a team who just buys for the sake of it? They could of spent a lot less and got a better team.

I heard Defour going to United is already a done deal myself, could be wrong though.

Chris Brunt first caught my eye three years ago and I would be very happy to sign him. So he was playing in the Championship at the time... what do you expect, children born with Premiership or La Liga shirts on their backs who are the only potential signings for LFC?

He also satisfies the test of realism: Adam Johnson or Kieran Gibbs leaving their current clubs and joining us? Also we didn't have much joy with Defour when we were challenging for honours. So why now? Dream on!

as everyone at the club have said the dark cloud has been lifted. For LFC to get back to the top they will have to invest in to the best players available. If new ownership, club history, club ambition cant attract the best players around i dont know what will. LFC needs rebuilding and players like a challenege. so i think we will make some interesting signings and if there available at a reasonable price then i think we will be in with a chance.

Never mind investing in the best players available thats what got us into trouble in the first place in the last 20 years, we need to spend sensibly within our means, we have to rely on our managers good judgement on a player and run the club much like Wenger does at Arsenal, that needs to be out blueprint for the future.
