What a shock! LFC's new AMERICAN owners ignoring SOS. Never saw that coming...
You couldn't make it up. In a statement released a couple of days ago, SOS expressed their disappointment that LFC’s new American owners had not been in contact to ‘engage’ with them. They’re kidding, right?!
There have been several amusing/ironic things about the Liverpool sale so far (Fan hypocrisy over Christian Purslow; LFC fan websites getting it so wrong for so long about the debt/the motives of LFC hierarchy), but this has to be the funniest. Part of SOS’s statement read:
It is disappointing that none of the potential purchase groups are yet to engage with Spirit of Shankly and we would expect that to happen now before any sale is concluded so the issues most closely concerning supporters can be discussed.
You have to admire the brazen chutzpah. For months and months, SOS conducted an antagonistic, xenophobic hate campaign against Hicks and Gillett, spewing the mantra ‘YANKS OUT’ at every opportunity, and whipping some sections of the Liverpool fanbase into an irrational, baying mob.
After this site vehemently attacked SOS’s stance (and ONLY this site), they were shamed into changing their ‘Yanks Out’ tagline. However, SOS members then burned the American flag outside Anfield (!), a disgraceful incident that brought shame on the club, embarrassed the fanbase, and alienated US Liverpool fans everywhere.
After all that xenophobic discontent, SOS actually has the gall to ‘expect’ a new AMERICAN owner to ‘engage’ with them?!
Why on earth would John W. Henry want to have anything to do with a baying rabble of thugs who took great delight in regularly and repeatedly insulting his country?
It’s hilarious to me that SOS feels slighted over the snub.
WAKE UP!
You reap what you sow. This is precisely what happens when you cut off your own nose to spite your face. And if New England Sports Ventures have any sense at all, they will stay well clear of SOS.
SOS should look on the bright side though – when they inevitably turn against the new Owners for failing to cut the Anfield grass to within a millimeter of UEFA specifications, (or some other spurious reason), they can just recycle all their ‘Yanks Out’ banners, which will save them a shedload of money.
Every cloud has a silver lining.
And the silver lining here is that when Hicks and Gillett are gone, an emasculated SOS might wither and die, with their place being taken by fan Union/Organisation of which LFC fans *worldwide* can be proud.

i dont usually take any notice to these website or their articles but i read this one and have to i completely agree. SOS stand for nothing good they are a bunch of delusional, egotistical little people who think they are the voice of the fans
