Anfield is a place of legends and history but we need to move with the times and get a 60/70 thousand seater. The amount of revenue this would generate would be fantastic for the club.
There are things to consider here i guess:
1: If there is the possibility Anfield can be developed, it might not be to 60,000 and would probably be at about its limit so we could no longer increase its capacity meaning that we would be back to square one in a few years time when we want a 70/80 thousand seater.
2: If you look at stadiums like the Emirates / City of Manchester, Reebok and the majority of brand new stadiums they are all designed in a way that means future expansion would be very difficult to actually do. The Emirates looks like a fantastic stadium but arsenal will be limited to 60,000 a long time, as the architecture simply won't allow development. This is something to take into consideration. Should we be looking at building a stadium like the emirates, which looks fantastic with its flowing roof and stands or should we be looking at a stadium that has the potential to allow future development? When you look at Old Trafford, the way they have developed it has meant there is always the option of further extension.
3: Ground Share with Everton - Could we all honestly build a fortress like we have at Anfield with the special atmosphere that only the kop can provide knowing that they will be playing there the week after!!! Financially the right option but the idea sends shivers down my spine!
