mascherano no loyalty (yawn) football fans are ridiculous barcelona are the best team in the world by miles, i love liverpool but if i was a played for liverpool and barcelona wanted me i would think about it and so would everybody on this forum on the football side i don't get why alonso would want to go to real madrid but totally as an outsider rafa and alonso don't seem to have the best relationship. I also think they both enjoy playing for liverpool and wont be big babies if rafa told them they where staying i wouldn't sell them for any money we are so close to the title now that i don't care who we get to replace them it wont be as good what i would do is tell them players and barcelona and real madrid for one season and if we don't win the league this season then agree to sell the players if the players still want to leave next summer

well i foresee both these players leavin, like Dunk wrote, both want out...

i had huge hopes for next season...with these 2 leavin,their departure will hav a major effect on our team, coz they were part of the spine.....

so now we are back to team rebuilding.........

i am with you on that one saud - i would love to see spearing given a chance as i think he is a top quality player

I'm not in to this giving out about the players.like everyone I always thought Alonso would go this year, I think he is great but before this season his performances had dipped, HE IS a mood player like it or not and if he doesn't get the move he wants who's to say his form won't dip again.

Masch was happy at the end of the season and like his buddy tevz you cant help but think his agent rules the roost. His agent has been practically begging barca to buy him.

We should get in the region of 60 million for them both, 25 Alonso and 35 masch, So who do we get in???, I would go all out for Villa, Drop Steve back into the middle, Spearing could come good but we would still need someone like senna ( i don't know what he would cost), but sadly i think our challenge for next season is gone

This appears to be getting depressing.

So the issue may be who do we replace them with.

Spearing is a prospect, you cant expect him to be a central foundation for a Premiership winning team....

if masch and alonso do leave,which they will....we need players with exprience and quality.....and none of our youth have tht(we surely dont want to be like Arsenal)...

yes we need to give our youth players a chance, but pushin some1 like spearin into startin 11 will not help him or the team...if masch were to stay longer,spearing wud hav learnt a great deal frm him ...

i am mad at this spanish clubs......and at our players wantin to leave,i dont knw y masch wants to leave,after all we did for him......

why can't spearing do it?? has everyone forgotten the scum winning with the neville brothers etc playing regularly - they were prospects at the time - until the lad is given a go we will never know if he can do it but in my opinion he can

no one can judge Spearing's abilities yet. all we know about him is that he's a good prospect and could be turned into a very useful midfielder.

If not, then Rafa will have about 50m to buy new players.

I expect low profile midfielders, and better attacking wingers.

Will be very sad to see Alonso leave if thats what he does but i cant really blame him, the way Benitez has treated him has been a disgrace over the last few years. Can remember Benitez publicaly rebuking him in all the papers because he stayed behind with his wife to have there first baby instead of playing at the San Siro against Inter Milan, he also publicaly had a go at him for speaking out about the dangerous Raul at Madrid like influence Gerrard and Carragher have developed within the club, no more so now with Arbeloa being sold and not having kicked a ball since his on the field bust up with Carragher at west brom, nothing wrong with a manager having ago at a player but he has to be fair and do it with all players Carragher and Gerrard included but he does'nt and thats where it's wrong. Then there was Alonso being touted round all the top clubs like a cheap prostitute behind the players back and if thats was'nt a slap in the face Benitez saying a couple of weeks ago every player has his price when talking about Alonso and in his next breath saying Mascherano is not for sale at any price.
Another thing I want to mention is about these Argies, when are people going to learn they are only in it for themselves they have no loyalty or honour in any of them, Mascherano was picked up out of the gutter and we have now raised his profile to a point where he has been made captain of his country even though for me his is a woeful player who cant pass a ball three feet he is as limited in ability as Dunnga was for Brazil and he is talking Barcalona up as a possible swith, next is his country man Tevez this man who the fans at Old trafford idolise is quite prepared to go to there arch rivals and local enemy Man City because they have promised him untold riches, our old friend Sabastien Leto is another he has just finished a loan stint at Athens club Olympiakos and now he is signing for yes you guessed it Panathinikos there most deadly local rivals have these Argies no honour amongst them by taking fans who pay there wages and idolise them's feelings into consideration. These players are interested in feathering there own nest with money and nothing else what other reason would Mascherano and Teves sell there souls to a rougue, corrupt agent if it was anything other than they were getting a better deal from him.

lucas will probably become a regular first teamer....
he might grow as a player with the experience of last season under his belt
