Emp If we followed your advice there would be 3 players at the club all given away for buttons or tokens etc. You must live in a dreamworld if you think we can move on 12+ players because they are 'crap' or 'not fit to wear the shirt'. with what shall we replace with with and more importantly who takes 'buttons' and 'tokens'?

Aquiliani was signed because he was cheap, 5mil payment up front till Feb confirms this. Alonso cash was used to service debt. Finally Lucas was our best outfield player last season, which for a decent player is good enough for me. Problem is for the club the big players were awful. The new season depends more on the massive improvement in the 'stars' rather than the Lucases

at the end of the day its liverpool football club not accrington stanley.

i think its fair to say just about everyone was sh1t last season.

imo half of the squad players at the club aren't significantly better than any of these young lads in our reserves. theres at least 5 - 8 that could easily sign us 1 or 2 decent players.

fair do's emp is maybe a little extreme but think about it. personally id much rather see us improve the team rather than buy these poor back up players that will be thrown onto the scrap heap 2 seasons later sold at 1/3 of their original transfer fee when theres money being put into the academy etc.

liverpool won the youth cup a couple of seasons ago and smashed most teams (spearing and the likes were in the side) including man city, yet we've produced no talent thats made it into the first team. for that to mean absolutely nothing is totally shocking, you can't teach experience... give them a game FFS

yea you never know a couple of them could be travelling with the first team every game. that allows a couple of youngsters from the u17's (just won the lancashire cup) to step up to the reserves and play at a higher level earlier in his career. its good sh!t maaaaan

hurts me to say this but look at united over the years, they have brought alot of decent youth players up, fergie has always given them a game. gibson, campbell, rafael, eagles etc etc etc

exactly mate, its must be an advantage to bring these players through the ranks... its cost effective (no transfer fee/cheaper wages) and look at some of the local lads we've produced over the years. warnock, matteo, thompson, gerrard, the little scumbag, fowler, wright, mcmanaman, guthrie, mellor, welsh... am sure theres more

then take a look at some of the players we've payed money for.. totally daft, id have mellor in my team any day over ngog and he cost us what 4/5 mill? and now the cheeky little blurt expects to be payed 42k a week...?

im not going to look at those stats for lucas, because football is not about stats. no point have a high percentage in succesful passes if none of your passes lead to anything.

'Lucas was our best outfield player last season'
i forgot to miss out 'as voted for by LFC fans on the LFC website'. Have a go at me by all means but I quoted the view of the majority. Pepe Reina was overall best player.

I think we sort of agree in that Lucas is not a world beater but then again where did anyone say he was?

I find it ignorant of LFC fans to continually blame a poor season on the 3 most inexperienced players Lucas,Insua, Ngog.
and therefore you see our recovery is based on removing these players? Surely the the highly experienced moaning Masch, Sulking Torres and Gerrard have more to answer for than the above 3. why the pressure on the youth players?

Selling the 3 kids bought for 9mil brings in say 15mil and lets be honest we are unlikely to get 3 players for the same quality are we?

Our near future clearly is in the fitness and mindset of our best players(Torres, Gerrard, Masch) not that of our inexperienced players(Lucas, Ngog etc).

i dont blame them for them for the poor season, in fact i dont "blame" them for anything. they are just not very good.
