won't happen...

we've been linked with so many players since roy arrived but i can't see how there would be any truth in this one...

I'm trying to see some logic in this but it's quite difficult. The guy can play centre half and defensive midfield so is flexible and can adapt. If Insua goes I can see the left back from Wigan coming in but it would leave Agger as the cover. If Agger get's used at left back at least we have Scharner as another centre back option. I see Roy putting Stevie back into centre midfield with Aqua or Lucas. Scharner can be cover for Lucas. We're not exactly taking a big gamble on a free.

if he was to be signed as a squad player well then ok,but not as a guaranteed first team starter.

he would be a back-up player. now that i think of it maybe it would be a decent deal if we signed him. he can fill in as a cb and dm and if we sign him for free it means we can concentrate on adding quality to other positions...

i reckon it would be a good signing, hes got prem experience and ive seen him put away a few goals too. get him in, sell masch, lucas and get someone decent in. good business.

i dont see him as a replacement for mascherano by any means, but he's more experienced than lucas and will definatley score more goals. a squad player like him on a free is decent imo. it may create more competition too, and its not asset stripping if he is an addititon to the squad.

Yeah I agree with your sentiments guys...if it means freeing up the potential money raised from the sale of Masch (£25-£30m?) and Roy is allowed to put that towards a couple of top quality attacking additions then I'd be for it. As I said we could then deploy Stevie deeper where he can arrive later into the box.

Just had a look on Skybet and noticed that Joe Cole's odds to join LFC are now 1/4, clear favourite with spurs 7/4!!!.... interesting!!!
