Well, I am not too sure about that unless somebody starts thinking Mandela is the same as Hitler. Maybe doing the same as they did in Hungary and putting those statues in a park with a bit of history written below might be a better way to go. I cannot see why any slave trader be celebrated, even if he gave money to the poor, for me it's tainted money. I would understand if you see it otherwise because the British Empire was built on slavery and colonial rule.

As I say go back in time to other eras no one is perfect even saint Mandela. Unless you consider burning victims to death a minor event not worthy of mention. But whatever we do with statues its the business of the local authority not a drugged up mob of screaming 20 year olds

Yes nobody is perfect but slave trade should not be celebrated even if some might have different opinions, you know, those who are still dreaming of the British Empire which is tainted with the blood of human beings which were considered inferior...some still think that way, you know the supremacists

if you bother to look in history britain stopped the slave trade we did not start slavery we participated in it as did most of the world back then. Africans caught the slaves and traded them as they do to this day in certain states. Plenty britons have been slaves also due to the romans and barbary slaves more white people were took to Africa from britain than the other way around. The only supremacist is you and you always have been a britain / western hater from Mauritius who does not know history

He's spot on though.

That job interview was going so well until I realized I was fukked up on acid in the middle of a cornfield naked and talking to a scarecrow.

If there were no demand, there wouldn't have been any supply, otherwise it would have still been on and you probably would have had a black slave at home. Yes, lots of forward looking Brits (unlike you might I say) were determinant to stop slave trade and they should be celebrated as I said before, but definitely not slave traders. Ask Lumba if he feels I am a Britain/Western hater.

Don't know why people are bringing slavery into this. It's a simple no. If you are good at your job you should be hired, if you are [oops] at your job you won't be chosen, the last 3 winners of the Barclays player of the season were non-whites, so does that mean we should have a petition for more whites to be involved?

It's murky, no matter which way you look at it but bringing up the past to label folks now who had no influence in what went on back then is insane and dangerous.

How can a slave trader not have an influence on slave trade, of course he had as he was doing it himself? What influence did those who started the fight for the abolition of slavery had, none, but they still started it, this is what should be celebrated. There were statues of Marx and Lenin all over Eastern Europe, should these still be there?

We have no influence in commi countries, I'm talking about historic figures who fought against slavery - Abe Lincoln, and those who fought against the nazis - Sir Winston Churchill just as examples.
It seems everything now is fair game for the jumped up socialists trying to ram their liberal utopia down everybody else's throats. They are trying to cause race wars the world over.

I was bemused watching the City v Arsenal game yesterday...taking the knee and seeing Black Lives Matter on the backs of shirts...All Lives Matter.

Your bemusement is the problem.
