Is it maybe possible that the new owners might want their own manager? Who knows maybe it was all part of the agreements between them. Still sad though, i was really looking forward to see he type of players he would sign, i know he has a great eye for talent. Names like David Villa, Aguero and Silva comes to mind.

BENITEZ 'HEARD OF DEPARTURE FROM FRIEND'

Sky Sports News understands Rafa Benitez was not informed Newcastle were going to put out a statement saying that he was leaving the club - until he heard about it from a friend.

A lack of clarity with regards to how the club progressed, we believe, is the reason the two sides could not agree a way forward in contract negotiations.

However, reports of Benitez demanding £100m be made available for new players are not true - and he was fully aware of what funds were available. Benítez also wanted to see investment in the club's training ground and academy.
