Steven Gerrard today backed the appointment of Roy Hodgson by declaring: "He's the right man for LFC."


Hodgson was this morning announced as the successor to Rafael Benitez after a four-week search by the club.

The former Fulham boss agreed a three-year deal and is now charged with getting Liverpool back among the Champions League elite.

Club captain Gerrard is confident Hodgson will prove a successful acquisition.

"The club have made a good appointment in Roy Hodgson," the 30-year-old told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"Rafa left a few weeks ago and I know the club were determined to take their time and get the right man for the job.

"Roy is hugely experienced and I believe he is the right man for Liverpool.

"I think it's been worth the wait and I'm sure he's just keen now to get on with it and start to quickly put in place his plans for the new season."

i think he means that Carragher is our new captain, and thats want he wants to hear from our "new" captain

One bad season blighted by injuries and everyone seems glad to get rid of Stevie.Have we all forgotten about how he dragged us through so many games over the last decade?The clubs ambitions are no-where near his own why wouldnt he move on?There are no loyalties in football anymore,especially at a club run by backstabbing liars.How loyal would Carra really be if he had the class to move onto better things i wonder?

I think Gerrard will stay. I just cant get it over my head that he will leave to another club and i cant see it either. Gerrard is our best player and hopefully since a decent coach in Roy Hodgson came in, i believe he will remain. Carragher for captain this season though

New to this forum i have been reading both this forum and liverpoolfc.tv for long time now, i am really confused at times where these amazing rumors come from? how do you know Gerrard is leaving? (would be my first Question then)

Then shouldn't the topic more be on what can we do to keep are star's? its depressing time as it is without fan's making it worse by moaning about every little rumor you here, if he wants to go i am sure he will come out and say it so stop with the "great uncle best friend does photo for Gerrard wife and know she looking for place in Madrid" etc

Everyone is saying Gerrard off to spain? In which team will he be playing in Gerrard is not good enough of recent performance to touch Barcelona team so.... that leaves Madrid so lets say the players? yeah Ronaldo and kaka both play in is place? where is he going to play? please tell me?

Now ok liverpool had [oops] season etc but lets be truthful rafa and Gerrard wasn't best of pals.

The good side to Roy been appointed is this and only this, He will play players in the position they want to play aka babel Gerrard etc

Secondly i doubt we will play two defence mid specially at home

Third we will focus more on league

last but least we wont do as much rotation as rafa days.

Now that said there is no way anyone can class roy as world class manager in 30 years of management his biggest achieve quote by him self was winning lma manager of the year, that says it all.

This does not mean i wont support him i am liverpool support first but my opinions of the man are very low as manager, this does not mean he will fail but its to be expected that he will.

Back to the topic i just can't see Gerrard leaving now he is 30 at best he has 2 year maybe 3 at top level he wants to manage liverpool etc i can him wanted to be remembered as legend like king kenny
